About This Tool
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How many tiles do I need?
Enter your room length and width plus your tile dimensions. The calculator divides the floor area by the tile area and adds your waste allowance.
What is the waste allowance for?
Cuts, breakage and pattern matching waste tiles. Ten percent is standard; use fifteen for diagonal layouts or irregular rooms.
Should I buy extra boxes?
Yes. Tiles are sold by the box, so round up to whole boxes and keep a few spares for future repairs — dye lots change between batches.
Does it account for grout lines?
The estimate uses nominal tile dimensions. Grout lines slightly reduce coverage needs, which your waste allowance comfortably absorbs.
Is the tile calculator free?
Yes. It is free to use with no signup and no limits.
